PRESENTATION OF THE BOOK «100 YEARS BASE AÉREA DE GETAFE 1920-2020»
On November 17, 2020, the official presentation of the book «100 YEARS BASE AÉREA DE GETAFE 1920-2020» was held at the Getafe Air Base. Activities and Happening at the Getafe Air Base From Its Origin «by its author D . Martín Sánchez González (Official Chronicler of the Villa de Getafe). Said act, chaired by His Excellency Mr. Lieutenant General Chief of the Historical and Cultural Service of the Air Force (SHYCEA) Mr. Rafael Sánchez Ortega, was also present of His Excellency Mr. General of Division Chief of the General Air Command (GJMAGEN) Mr. Emilio J. Gracia Cirugeda and His Excellency Mr. Sara Hernández Mayor of Getafe City Council.
The event was held in the officers’ pavilion of the Getafe Air Base, also attended by Mr. Luis José Domínguez, Delegate Councilor for Culture and Youth of the Getafe City Council, the Acting Colonel Director of the Museum of Aeronautics and Astronautics, the Colonel Director of the Revista Aeronáutica y Astronáutica, The Colonel Head of ACAR GETAFE, the Head of Wing 48, the Head of CECAF, the Head of CEFARMA, the Head of the General Secretariat of SHYCEA, as well as Mr. Gabriel Alonso, Director of Sales Spain of Airbus DS, Ms. Natalia Santa Teresa, Business Development Manager of Indra, Mr. Gabriel Navarrete Martínez, of Manufacturing and Mechanical Assemblies (FAYMM SL) and by the author’s wife, Dr. Elena Trejo. The capacity of the event has been limited by the COVID-19 pandemic and the hygienic-sanitary measures decreed were complied with.
The author made an emotional presentation of his work, the result of countless hours of work and research, where he briefly reviewed the aspects that prompted him to undertake this writing and the most emotional and important moments that occurred in this century. At the end of the act, the author dedicated some copies of the printing test to the authorities present, one of which is specially dedicated to the Chief of Air Staff.
This work, which is much more than a book, was born with the intention of serving as a legacy for future generations, so that they know the work and dedication carried out by all the men and women who serve and served in this Air Base, delivering the best of themselves. As he himself has transmitted, the vital moment of making this work is now and what is not written is carried away by the wind.
